An affiliate program for AI apps
Affiliate tools were built for $29/month SaaS on Stripe. AI apps sell credit packs, bill by usage, often sell through a merchant of record, and get discovered through creators. Here is what that changes, and how Referralmeter handles each part.
1. Your revenue isn't only subscriptions
A typical AI app has a base plan, credit packs, top-ups when a user runs out mid-project, and sometimes a metered bill at the end of the month. An affiliate who brought in that customer expects a share of all of it, for as long as the program promises. A tool that only understands recurring invoices pays them on the base plan and silently skips the rest, and affiliates notice.
Referralmeter pays commission on subscriptions, one-time purchases, credits and usage, each switchable per program. Refunds and chargebacks claw back proportionally, and a commission is never reversed for more than it earned. The worked numbers are in commission on credits and usage.
2. You probably sell through a merchant of record
Polar, Lemon Squeezy, Paddle, Creem and Dodo Payments handle VAT and sales tax for you, which is why so many AI apps use them. Most affiliate tools grew up on Stripe and treat everything else as an afterthought. Referralmeter reads each provider's signed webhooks natively, verifies the signature before anything is stored, and ignores a re-delivered event, so a webhook retry never pays twice.
3. Tracking has to survive the real world
The referral is written into your billing provider's own checkout record, and commissions come from signed webhooks rather than a browser pixel. Test-mode payments are kept apart and never paid. When you change your checkout, re-run the verification: it pushes a test referral all the way through to a commission and a refund, and gives you a certificate that says it worked.
4. Your best affiliates are creators, not coupon sites
People find AI tools through YouTube reviews, newsletters and “the tools I use” threads. Those creators already review your category; they just haven't heard of you. On the Growth plan, the Recruiting Agent researches who covers your category and your competitors, shows the evidence for each person (a link to the video or issue), scores the fit and drafts a note. You send it from your own inbox, so it reads like a founder writing to a creator, because it is one.
Referralmeter reports activated affiliates (people who made a first sale), not sign-ups. A program with 200 sign-ups and 3 sellers is a program with 3 affiliates.
5. Some of your traffic comes from AI assistants
Visitors who arrive from ChatGPT, Perplexity or Claude show up as their own source in your dashboard, so you can see which customers an assistant sent you, separately from affiliate referrals.
6. You built the app with an agent; let it install this too
Paste one prompt into Claude Code, Cursor or Lovable. The agent reads our install guide, adds the script, passes the referral into checkout, connects billing and runs the verification.
Paste one prompt. Get a certificate. Then go find your sellers.
Free until your affiliates bring in $1,000 a month. Then $49, flat, however much they sell.
