Run your program

Importing and exporting

Bring affiliates, codes, customers and balances from another tool or a CSV file, and take your data out.

Importing is on Pro and Growth: Settings → Import. Every import shows a preview first, and nothing is written until you confirm. Running one twice is safe: existing rows are never overwritten, and it only fills gaps.

What comes across

Affiliates (name, email, status)YesYes
Every referral codeYescode plus extra_codes
Coupon codesYescoupons
Referred customersYesSeparate customers file
Commissions already dueYesbalance

Old links. Every code keeps crediting its affiliate, on links, in checkout metadata and as a coupon. The affiliate's main code is the first free one. A code already held by a different affiliate in your program can't be kept, and the preview lists it.

Customers. A referred customer's next payment earns the affiliate commission under your rules, whenever it comes, without the attribution window applying. It matches on the billing customer ID (Rewardful provides Stripe's), then your user ID, then email. A commission limited to a number of months counts from first_payment_date, so a customer past that period earns nothing. With no date, it counts from their next payment.

Balances. Commissions already due become one approved opening balance per affiliate, in your program's currency. It has no payment behind it, so no refund can reverse it, and it is brought across once only. From Rewardful, due commissions in another currency stay behind, and the preview says so. From FirstPromoter, the account's single currency is taken to be your program's: check the total in the preview. Commissions still pending in the old tool stay there.

CSV format

Files are up to 2 MB, with a header row, separated by commas, semicolons or tabs. Rows with a problem are listed by row number and left out; the rest can still be imported. Import affiliates before customers.

Affiliates: email and code are required. Optional: name, status (approved by default), extra_codes and coupons (separated by semicolons), balance.

Referred customers: affiliate_email or affiliate_code, plus at least one of email, external_id or stripe_customer_id. Optional: provider (needed for a billing ID other than Stripe's), status, first_payment_date (YYYY-MM-DD).

Adding by hand

On an affiliate's page, Add by hand credits them with a customer tracking missed, or adds a one-off commission that is payable straight away. Both go in your activity log.

Exporting

Affiliates, Customers and Commissions each have an Export CSV button. Payouts → Tax forms exports what each affiliate was paid in a calendar year, for preparing 1099s. Filing them stays with you. Values that a spreadsheet would run as a formula are escaped.
