Install
Verification & certificate
How the install check works, what each step proves, and the public certificate.
A verification proves the whole path on your live install: a click on an affiliate link, a signup, a payment through your billing provider's webhook, and the commission our engine calculates. Each step is recorded on our servers as it happens, not reported by your code.
Run one
- Dashboard: Install & verify → Start verification.
- API:
POST https://referralmeter.com/api/v1/verificationswith a write key, then pollGET /api/v1/verifications/{id}. - MCP:
start_verification, thenget_verification.
You get a test link: your website with ?via=verify-xxxxxx. That code belongs to a test affiliate created for the run. Open it in a fresh browser window, sign up with a new account, and pay in test mode.
Test affiliates are never paid and never count toward stats or plan limits. The API hides them from affiliate lists unless you pass include_test=true. Starting again while a run is in progress returns the same run. A run that hasn't passed after 24 hours expires.
The steps
| Step | Proves | If it stays empty |
|---|---|---|
| Affiliate click recorded | The script is on the page and its key is right | The script isn't on the page you opened, data-key is wrong, or the page drops ?via= before the script runs |
| Signup attributed | referralmeter.signup() runs after signup | It isn't called, or runs on another domain than the one you clicked into |
| Test payment received | Checkout carries the referral and the webhook is connected | The webhook isn't connected, or checkout doesn't pass referralmeter_ref / client_reference_id |
| Commission calculated | Your commission rules pay on this purchase | One-time or usage payments may be switched off, or a flat amount is zero |
| Refund reversed (optional) | Refunds claw the commission back | Refund the test payment in your billing provider |
Every response carries next (what to do now) and diagnostics: evidence from your own data, such as a payment that arrived without a referral or a billing connection that is failing.
The certificate
When the four required steps arrive, the run passes and its certificate goes live at https://referralmeter.com/verify/<id>: your program name and website, each step's time, the test payment, and the commission math. It shows no customer data. Share it with your team, your first affiliates, or a launch post. Certificates are not indexed by search engines.
